The Government of Tajikistan has adopted a decree on holding the Month of Red Crescent
Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan signed a decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on approval of the procedure, conditions and timeline of holding the Month of the Red Crescent in Tajikistan.
According to this decree, the Month of the Red Crescent shall be held in the republic every year in May and all relevant governmental agencies are requested to support in holding this event. It should be noted that the 8th of May is celebrated as the International Day of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement worldwide.

The decree was adopted on October 7th, 2011 under the number 504.
Holding the Month of Red Crescent was provided in the Charter of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan and in the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on “The Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan” and now the decree on it was adopted in such high governmental level.
The aim of the Month of the Red Crescent is to disseminate the humanitarian ideas and principles of the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, attracting the attention to the activities of the RCST and increasing the level of awareness of disaster risk reduction and preparedness to it.
The programme of the Month of the Red Crescent consists of conducting television round tables, publishing news and articles about the RCST activities in the media, announcing different kind of competitions, holding sport and cultural events and charity actions, conducting simulation exercises, conducting different informational actions among the people etc.
The Month of the Red Crescent shall be held in accordance with the programme of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan and within its framework the Society can use stadiums, parks and other socio-cultural sites.
